SoJen.AI Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out the rules governing permissible and prohibited uses of the SoJen.AI API ("API"). This AUP is incorporated by reference into the API Terms of Use. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in the Terms of Use.

Violation of this AUP may result in immediate suspension or termination of your API access.

1. The Purpose of the API

The SoJen.AI API exists to help organizations build healthier digital environments by detecting bias, hate speech, harassment, and harmful content before it causes harm. All permitted uses must align with this mission.

2. Permitted Uses

You may use the API to:

  • Content moderation: Pre-screen or flag user-generated content on your platform for human review or automated enforcement.
  • Research and analysis: Study patterns of harmful language in datasets for academic, policy, or product research purposes.
  • Developer tooling: Build internal tools that surface potentially harmful drafts to writers or moderators before publication.
  • Compliance reporting: Generate audit logs demonstrating your platform's content safety posture.
  • Educational products: Teach users about bias, inclusive language, and communication best practices.

3. Prohibited Uses

3.1 Weaponizing the API Against Its Mission

You may not use the API or its output to:

  • Identify content that evades detection and then disseminate such content at scale.
  • Train a competing model or system designed to generate harmful content that circumvents safety systems.
  • Build any tool whose primary purpose is to produce, amplify, or normalize hate speech, harassment, or discriminatory content.

3.2 Discrimination and Targeting

You may not use the API to:

  • Target, profile, or discriminate against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic.
  • Score or rank individuals in ways that affect their access to housing, employment, credit, healthcare, or other consequential life domains without appropriate human oversight and legal authorization.

3.3 Children's Privacy Violations

You may not:

  • Submit personally identifiable information of children under 13 without full COPPA compliance and verifiable parental consent.
  • Use the API in any product directed to children under 13 without a separate written Data Processing Agreement that addresses children's data requirements.

3.4 Illegal Activities

You may not use the API:

  • In violation of any applicable federal, state, local, or international law or regulation.
  • To process data that was obtained unlawfully, including data obtained in breach of another party's terms of service.
  • To facilitate harassment, stalking, doxxing, or threats against any individual.

3.5 System Integrity

You may not:

  • Attempt to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the API infrastructure.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, system, or network associated with SoJen.AI.
  • Circumvent rate limits, authentication mechanisms, or usage tracking.
  • Use the API to generate load for benchmarking purposes without prior written consent.

3.6 Misrepresentation of Output

You may not:

  • Present API output as a definitive factual, legal, clinical, or regulatory determination.
  • Remove, obscure, or falsify any attribution to SoJen.AI where required by your Customer agreement.
  • Imply that SoJen.AI endorses your product, service, or content.

4. Responsibility for Your Users

If you make the API accessible to end users (directly or indirectly), you are responsible for:

  • Ensuring your users are informed of and comply with the spirit of this AUP.
  • Implementing appropriate authentication and authorization to prevent unauthorized access to your API integration.
  • Promptly investigating and remediating any misuse you become aware of.

5. Reporting Violations

If you become aware of any use of the API that violates this AUP — including misuse by your own users — please report it promptly to:

6. Enforcement

We reserve the right to:

  • Investigate suspected violations of this AUP.
  • Suspend API access immediately upon discovering a material violation.
  • Terminate access permanently for serious or repeated violations.
  • Cooperate with law enforcement where required by law.

We will use reasonable judgment in determining whether conduct violates this AUP and will consider context. We may contact you before taking enforcement action except where immediate action is necessary to protect our systems, other customers, or third parties.

7. Updates

We may update this AUP at any time with thirty (30) days' notice. Continued use of the API after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
